DSMIG is a registered charity(Charity Registration Number: 1103450). It has no funding from the Department of Health or Healthcare Trusts. Our information service is now supported by the Down’s Syndrome Association UK. In the early years all our initiatives, including setting up the information service and website development, were funded by small adhoc donations together with grants from
the David Solomon Trust, Mencap City Foundation, and Children Nationwide
The early meetings of our guidelines development group were funded by the Association for the Prevention of Disability, and members meetings by the Royal Society of Medicine Intellectual Disability Forum. Marks and Spencer funded the production and distribution of the first edition of the PCHR insert. The Child Growth Foundation funded all aspects of growth chart development and production of the second edition of the PCHR insert. Harlow Printing have worked closely with DSMIG on the production of the PCHR insert and Growth Charts and have been generous in donating their time and resources. Oxford Pharmagenesis supported us for many years with materials for meetings. Development of our website has been a central function of DSMIG and Cayenne Web development have provided a service extending beyond their contract. We are deeply indebted to all these people and organisations who have helped and encouraged us.
We remain dependent on the generosity of such organisations to continue our core functions but require additional funding to support additional projects such as website and guideline development.
If membership is not appropriate but you feel that you, your trust or organisation has benefited from the information gained and been enabled to deliver a better service to those with Down syndrome, and would like to support us in our work, we would be grateful if you would consider making a financial contribution towards our activities such as website or guideline development.
If you are a healthcare professional with an ongoing interest in Down Syndrome, you might like to consider becoming a member of DSMIG.
