Edited by an Australian physiotherapist and special educator this excellent multiauthor paperback was first published in 1993. It outlines practices and activities that will enhance the development of appropriate movement patterns for people with Down's syndrome from infancy, through childhood and adolescence to later adulthood. It provides a background for understanding the movement deficits so often encountered in those with the syndrome and addresses issues that are involved in preventing the development of maladaptive patterns. It is full of useful practical advice which can be incorporated naturally into everyday living from the first days of life. Sympathetically written with lovely photographs it is appropriate for parents and carers as well as professionals working in the field of developmental disabilities.
