If untreated these are a significant cause of preventable secondary handicap. Cataract and/or glaucoma may occur in infancy. Keratoconus overrepresented at older ages. Newborn - check for cataract. 1st year - visual behaviour to be monitored by a paediatrician. 2nd year - Full ophthalmological review: orthoptic assessment refraction fundus examination Follow up as required for those with problems. 2 yearly full review for others throughout life.
