DSMIG Information Roadshows For Healthcare ProfessionalsWe can run a medical information roadshow in your area. We will send two DSMIG members - preferably one of them local to you. Our roadshows typically cover the six DSMIG guidelines for essential basic medical surveillance (cardiac, thyroid, hearing, vision, growth, cervical spine instability) and include a brief overview of other medical conditions which occur in excess in the syndrome. We also like you to include in the programme a relevant presentation from someone local to your area. We find that 3 hours is the minimum for one of these sessions. We like these to be informal and interactive with at least one good break. We find it is helpful to discuss programming details with you at an early stage. To date most roadshows have been organised by community paediatric services, sometimes as part of existing CPD programmes. Some audiences have been predominantly medical, others have been multiprofessional. We would very much like to be invited to run roadshows for midwives and other nursing colleagues such as neonatal nurses and health visitors. Sample programmes
Fees and organisationWe charge £100 for half a day and £150 for a full day plus all expenses. Local branches of the Down's Syndrome Association have sometimes given financial support. Fees are paid into DSMIG funds. We will work through a local coordinator appointed by you and will also need local admin/secretarial backup. You will need to organise the venue, catering, advertising, provision of delegate packs, and CPD approval. We will supply you with top copies of the medical surveillance guidelines and any other information we would like included in the packs, but you will need to reproduce these in whatever numbers are required. You are of course free to include information of your own. For more information contact DSMIG » |
