The Down Syndrome Medical Interest Group (DSMIG) is a registered charity committed to supporting healthcare professionals, families, and others with an interest in Down syndrome by providing reliable information, guidance, and resources.
We are committed to making our website as accessible and usable as reasonably possible for all visitors. We recognise that accessibility is particularly important given the nature of our work and the communities we serve.
Current accessibility status
The DSMIG website is publicly available and also includes a members-only area containing specialist and clinical content. The website has been developed and is maintained with limited charitable resources and does not currently fully conform to recognised web accessibility standards such as WCAG 2.1.
As a result, some users may experience difficulties when accessing parts of the site. These may include, but are not limited to:
- Incompatibility with certain assistive technologies or screen readers
- Documents or media that are not fully optimised for accessibility
- Navigation or layout elements that may be challenging for some users
At present, DSMIG is not in a position to undertake a full technical redevelopment of the website to address all accessibility issues.
What we are doing
Within our available resources, we aim to:
- Present information clearly and in plain language wherever possible
- Minimise unnecessary barriers when adding new content
- Review accessibility concerns when they are brought to our attention
Accessibility considerations are balanced alongside the charity’s other priorities and resource constraints.
Alternative access and support
If you experience difficulty accessing any part of this website, or if you require information in an alternative format, please contact us.
We will make reasonable efforts to provide access to the information you need through alternative means, such as by email or other appropriate methods, where this is practicable.

Responsibility and limitations
Users are responsible for ensuring that their own devices, browsers, and assistive technologies are appropriately configured for their individual needs. While DSMIG endeavours to make its online content accessible where reasonably possible, we cannot guarantee compatibility with all technologies or accessibility requirements.
